In December, a large number of clients and volunteers gathered at the Bridge for a lovely Christmas Afternoon Tea event. It was a particularly special event because we have never organised anything like this before. We managed to fundraise enough money to hire a minibus for the afternoon so were  able to offer transport to a number of our housebound clients so that they could join in this festive event.

A very special thank you to Maria, Brenda and Sam from Little Waitrose, Highbury Corner who all came along on their day off (!) to help us, bringing with them a load of festive mincepies and other donations and then getting well and truly stuck in by helping Paulette and Winn make the sandwiches and with serving the tea & cakes. Thank you guys, we couldn’t have done without you.  Kalim from cycling without age came along with his festive rickshaw – some clients were even brave enough to give it a go and got whizzed around the block in it!  Tracey and Amanda from the Amity Project  put on an incredible entertainment and we all joined in with the singing and dancing along to golden oldies. It really was a brilliant afternoon and it meant a lot to the clients who came along.

A huge thanks to Rose, Iris and Winn for organising the raffle – which raised a further £42 for our funds. Volunteer Christina helped by escorting the clients on the minibus – thanks Christina.  Many thanks also to all our volunteers who supported us, brought cakes etc and chatted to the clients and joined in with the singing! With special thanks to Laura for organising the event and to volunteers Paulette, Winn, Julie, Anthony, Hannah, Ellen, Jamie, Raffaela, Anna Lisa, Faye, Andrew, Pamela and David who all went that extra mile to ensure that everyone had a truly wonderful time.
